Katie Anderson Howell contains multitudes. As a poet, her works have covered topics from post-partum depression to sex toy recycling, appearing in journals as far ranging as The Account, Beltway Poetry Journal, Misfit Magazine, and others. Whale Road Review nominated her for Best of the Net and Stillwater Review nominated her for a Pushcart Prize. As a scholar, she writes about fan studies and disability, with her monograph Disability and Fandom published in March 2025 by University of Iowa Press. In her daily life as a licensed esthetician, she supports a diverse clientele and practices corrective skin care with a focus on higher Fitzpatrick types. When she’s not writing, parenting her two children, or walking her giant dog, she’s reading a new audiobook.
